Who we are

Founded by António Lopes Alves in the early 1970s, and after several years working in the sawmilling and fine wood trade, on 1 October 1980 he set up the company Alves & Filhos Serração de Madeiras Lda. with its main activity being the sawmilling and trade of Pinus pinaster wood.

Since then, for more than 50 years, our company has consolidated its growth, in a continuous policy of solidification, creation of critical mass, size and search for new opportunities, which has allowed it today to have a wide and complementary offer in everything that is national wood.

We currently specialise in the manufacture and sale of solid, green, dried and/or treated wood for various sectors, including construction, furniture, carpentry and packaging.

We make all kinds of pallets, crates and various types of packaging with phytosanitary treatment in accordance with Decree Law 95/2011 and International Standard 15.

We also carry out wood treatments, both preventative, in an autoclave, and phytosanitary, by thermal shock (HT).

Excellence in creative and innovative processes, its production capacity, the logistics platform created and the commercial dynamics developed and implemented - in short, the know-how acquired over the years - were and are the success factors in Alves & Filhos' business.

We are an FSC-certified company that has been an PME LEADER since 2009 and an PME EXCELLENCE since 2019.

Energy efficiency

Our commitment to installing solar panels has led us to an autonomy in the production of green energy of around 30 per cent. In the short term, we plan to increase our investment and raise this autonomy to 60 per cent.
